The United States regulates by product category rather than through one conformity mark. Electronic equipment needs FCC authorisation. Food facilities must register with the FDA and comply with FSMA. Medical devices follow the FDA's own Quality System Regulation, now converging with ISO 13485.
What the market asks for
Where certification is requested, it usually comes from the customer rather than the regulator. Retail and food service buyers commonly specify a GFSI scheme such as FSSC 22000 or BRC.
Will an Indian certificate be accepted here?
Yes, where it is issued by a body accredited under the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement. Signatories accept each other's accredited certificates, so a certificate issued in India is recognised in United States without re-auditing. We make sure the body you use is in scope before you commit.
