Great Britain uses UKCA marking in place of CE for most regulated goods; Northern Ireland continues to follow the EU rules.
UKCA and CE are not interchangeable
For goods placed on the Great Britain market, UKCA is the applicable mark for most regulated product categories. Northern Ireland remains aligned to the EU regime, so a product sold across the whole UK may need both routes considered.
Approved bodies
Where third-party assessment is required, it must be carried out by a UK Approved Body. An EU Notified Body's involvement does not by itself satisfy the GB requirement.
What buyers ask for
ISO 9001 is close to standard in UK procurement. Public sector and larger private buyers frequently add ISO 27001 for anything touching data, and ISO 45001 for site-based work.
Will an Indian certificate be accepted here?
Yes, where it is issued by a body accredited under the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement. Signatories accept each other's accredited certificates, so a certificate issued in India is recognised in United Kingdom without re-auditing. We make sure the body you use is in scope before you commit.
